The GAP Community Organization along with Aldermen Fioretti, Burns & Dowell are standing against this assault in our community!
We need our neighbors’ help to appear Dec. 21st to oppose the alternative high school
(Prologue) at the former Griffin Funeral Home & another proposed hair salon wanting
to open on 31st Street!
Why we do not need another school in our neighborhood...
statistics of students and numbers of school in our area
2,577 = Number of students ages 5-17 residing between 2600 South, 3900 South, Dan Ryan and the Lake
198 = Number of students ages 5-17 residing in the GAP
Number of high schools = 10
Number of elementary schools = 9
Enrolled high school students = 6,134
Enrolled elementary students = 2,326
Total Students Enrolled in our neighborhood = 8,460
This data shows that we have at least 6,000 students coming into our greater community everyday that don’t live here!
Prologue Alternative High School has already proven to be a bad neighbor and they haven’t yet moved in:
- Not coming to the community first, but publicly saying they did
- Their written statement asks for 320 student slots, but they told the community 120 slots
- Dodging community questions and concerns
